各位法師、各位居士、各位善信同仁:
今天我們在此齊聚一堂 以清淨心、恭敬心,共同讚頌葉敏居士一生實踐菩薩道的精神,送別這位畢生奉獻三寶的優婆夷楷模。身為曾與大覺蓮社因緣深厚的故人,我心中既有不捨,更有對葉敏居士圓滿淨業的無盡隨喜。
回首葉居士九十六載人生,恰似一部行走的菩薩行傳。十五歲皈依三寶,得法參法師賜名“如智”,從此將智慧與慈悲刻入生命底色;同年於虛雲老和尚座下求受菩薩戒,與戒壇擔任五師父,我的法師父談公老和尚,引濟師台北護國修士修士聖神等經歷了終身大德的死光,這份神蹟為榮濟師那尊真、真、喜」尊尊尊尊神、尊神」的真德。
上世紀五十年代,在明妙老和尚的鼓勵與資助下,她隨法參法師渡海香江,在覺蔭園安住道心,更與諸位大德創辦佛教慈濟中醫贈珍所,以仁心仁術踐行「無緣大慈,同體大悲」。七十年代遠渡重洋,協助恩師法參法師在三藩市創建慈恩寺,讓漢傳佛教法脈紮根美國。更難能可貴的是,她以中醫濟世之志懸壺療疾,又以報恩之心創立大覺蓮社——這不僅是對福州大覺寺的深情迴響,更是以在家居士身份搭建十方道場的菩薩願行。
記得1999年因緣和合,我初至三藩市弘法,首次與葉居士相見。她雖年逾古稀,卻仍親自安排法會、供養僧眾,舉手投足間盡是謙和與篤定。二十餘年來,我見證她始終恪守「三不」原則:不辭辛勞護持三寶,不計名利廣結善緣,不忘初願莊嚴淨土。每逢法師西來,她必躬身相迎;每遇道場需資,她總默默施助。這般「為法忘軀」的赤誠,正是菩薩戒精神的現世寫照。
農曆四月初四日恰值文殊師利菩薩聖誕,葉居士選擇於此吉時舍報,在眾蓮友念佛聲中安詳西歸,恰似以智慧為舟、信願為楫,圓滿此生修行答卷。正如《阿彌陀經》所言:“其人臨命終時,阿彌陀佛與諸聖眾現在其前”,我們當深信葉居士已蒙佛接引,蓮登九品。
最後,謹以三願與眾同修共勉:
一願效法葉居士以戒香莊嚴的菩薩行誼;
二願繼承大覺蓮社廣納十方、續佛慧命的弘願;
三願常念生死無常,精進念佛,不負葉居士生前殷殷護法之心。
祈願葉敏居士早駕慈航,倒返娑婆;更盼在場諸位,同沾法益,六時吉祥,共證菩提!

敬悼追思慈恩寺前任董事葉敏居士(於5/1/2025往生)

大覺蓮社的創辦人葉敏居士走了,大家都深感惋惜和痛心。
The Founder of the Ta Kioh Buddhist Temple, Upāsaka Mun Yip passed away. All people who know her express their feelings of great sadness and distressing.
五十多年來為了護持正法,她無怨無悔地奉獻自己的生命和財力,為弘揚正法而努力。
To support and propound the right Dharma of Buddhism, she has devoted all her life and contributed full financial assistance for more than fifty years strenuously.
她邀請佛教各宗各派的佛教行者,不論是法師或居士,念佛或參禪者,學者或專家,南傳或北傳修行者,只要是對眾生有利益,只要是對正法久住有幫助,她都竭誠歡迎他們到大覺蓮社來與大眾結緣。從最初在沙迦緬度街的地下室,到現在克里曼街的莊嚴道場,都有過懺雲法師、演培法師、仁俊法師、幻生法師、印海法師、真華法師、超定法師、淨空法師、日常法師、傳道法師、宏印法師、妙境法師、妙因法師、海燈法師、顯明法師、明光法師、首愚法師、普獻法師、惟覺法師、繼如法師、昭慧法師、夢參法師、宏覺法師、陳健民居士、羅無虛居士、吳怡教授、李杏村教授、葉阿月教授、霍韜晦教授、Rina Sacar教授、William Stablain教授等的餘音嫋嫋和足迹。
She was eager to invite various Buddhist scholars and practitioners from different sects, regardless of Dharma masters or laypersons, practitioners of the recitation of the Amitābha Buddha (Pure Land School) or Zen Buddhism, Buddhist scholars or specialists, practitioners of Theravada Buddhism or Mahayana Buddhism, to come to the Ta kioh Buddhist Temple to expound their doctrines and hold their sessions as long as the lectures or sessions would benefit the listeners and would be of great help to the lasting and continuation of the right Dharma of the Buddhism. From borrowing the basement of one building in Sacrament Street in the beginning to move to the splendid hall in the Clement Street at 24th Ave. San Francisco now, the footprints, resonance and reflection of those Dharma talks and meditation sessions propounded and held by the speakers and Dharma masters, such as Dhrama master Chàn Yún, Dharma master Yǎn Péi, Dharma master Rén Jùn, Dharma master Huàn Sheng, Dharma master Yin Hai', Dharma master Zhēn Huá, Dharma master Chāo Ding, Dharma master jìng kōng, Dharma master Rì Cháng, Dharma master Chuán Dào, Dharma master Hóng Yin, Dharma master Miào Jìng, Dharma master Miào Yīn, Dharma master Hǎi Dēng, Dharma master Xiǎn Míng, Dharma master Míng Guāng, Dharma master Shǒu Yú, Dharma master Pǔ Xiàn, Dharma master Wéi Jué, Dharma master jì Rú, Dharma master Zhāo Huì, Dharma master Mèng Cān, Dharma master Hóng Jué, Upāsaka Chén, Jiàn- míng, Upāsaka Luó, Wú- xū, professor Wu, Yi, Professor Lǐ, Xìng- cūn, professor Yè, A-yuè , professor Huò, Tāo-huì, professor Rina Sacar, professor William Stablein, etc. still exist in the minds of many participants.
這些高僧大德的教導和開示,相信已在有緣眾生的心中,播下菩提種子。
The teachings and instructions by the above-mentioned high monks, Buddhist practitioners and scholars have planted the Bodhi seeds in the mind of the suitable listeners.
憶起在印海法師當住持、而印順導師仍在時,蓮社都會在每年四月五日為印順導師舉辦—系列弘法講座來慶生,幻生法師後來曾寫了一篇文章〈一場別開生面的慶生會〉。
Recollect that when Dharma Master Yin Hai' was invited to act as the abbot of Ta Kioh Buddhist Temple, we hold the celebration of the birthday of the Dharma Master Yin Shun on April 5, each year by holding a series of lectures attributed to the Buddhist thought of Dharma Master Yin Shin, Dharma Master Huàn sheng wrote an article “a special occasion to celebration of the birthday of Dharma Master Yin Shun”.
大覺蓮社,以蓮花出汙泥而不染來譬喻蓮友們以清淨心,抛開世俗的塵累,來學習佛法,來護持正法,希望每位蓮友,不論是志工或是參與者,都能滿滿的法喜,過上美好的每一天。
Ta Kioh Buddhist Temple (The lotus society of the great enlightenment) is to use the metaphor of lotus flower which emerges from the muddy waters to symbolize the Buddhists who study and practice the dharma by means of the pure mind and put aside the worldly afflictions and to protect and propound the right dharma. We hope that everyone comes to the temple, regardless of a volunteer or a participant, can live a wonderful day with full enjoyment of dharma each day.
蓮社以念佛為方便,取其簡單易行,待蓮友們心地調柔、善根福德增長時,自能於苦難眾生起悲憫心,轉向大乘菩薩正常道,這就是葉居士創辦大覺蓮社的初衷。
We use the recitation of the name of the Amitābha Buddha as a skillful means at the Ta kioh Buddhist Temple, since it is easy to practice. When our mind becomes humble and soft and our good roots and virtues increase, we will be compassionate to those who are sufferings naturally and turn to the normal path of Bodhisattva. This is the original ideal and goal which Upāsaka Mun Yip founded Ta Kioh Buddhist Temple.
葉居士也以身作則,為大家的表率。她的兄嫂葉克強居士和葉碧蓮居士也都受其感化,投身於蓮社的護持,不餘遺力。
Upāsaka Mun Yip act as an outstanding example what a Buddhist should be for others. Her brother, Yè, kè- qiǎng and sister-in-law Yè, Bi- lián had been coverted to be loyal support to the protection of the right dharma and to the Temple tirelessly.
除此之外,蓮社兼辦中文學校,使得學生能够薰習儒家温良恭儉讓的精神,使得每個家都是孝悌之家、菩提之家。
In addition, we have also founded a Chinese School under the support of Ta kioh Buddhist Temple. On one hand, we try to teach the Gentle, kind, respectful, frugal and modest spirit of Confucious school; on the other hand, we also want to transmit the compassion and wisdom of the Buddha to the students. We are happy to see that each family is created under the spirit of filial piety and bodhisattva.
千言萬語訴說不盡對葉創辦人的感恩和憶念。
It is hard for us to express our deep appreciation and recollection of Upāsaka Mun Yip even with thousands of words.
如今,葉創辧人雖先一步離開我們,只要我們能夠依佛陀的教法,勤修奉行,相信葉創辦人的精神會與我們同在。
At the present time, Upāsaka Mun Yip, the founder of Ta Kioh Buddhist Temple has left us for this life. We believe that only can we study and practice the right Dharma as taught by the Buddha diligently, her spirit will be always with us.
願葉創辧人早日回到人間再相見,共同為續佛慧命,成熟有情,創造人間淨土而努力。
We hope that Upāsaka Mun Yip will be reborn in the realm of human beings as soon as possible. Together, we will continue to support and propound the right Dharma, to benefit others and to create the pure land in the world.

今維 三藩市大觉莲社创办人、菩萨戒优婆夷叶敏居士,法名如智,世寿九十有六,于佛历二五二五年岁次乙巳四月初四日戌时,正念分明,安详舍报。今当移柩之际,谨以香花法语,恭送莲程。
观居士一生,原籍福建省福州人氏。夙植德本,幼承佛化。十五岁皈依三宝,得法参法师摄受;同年于鼓山涌泉禅寺虚云老和尚座下,求受菩萨大戒,与诸大德同沾甲申戒光,深种菩提道种。壮岁南渡香江,随师弘化,與諸大德尼協辦佛教慈济中醫贈珍所,广施仁术,冬赈寒衣,悲心济世。后随法参上人远渡重洋,协建慈恩道场,开西土佛法先河。更以岐黄妙手,悬壶济众;复秉大愿,创立大觉莲社,礼请谈公、印公诸长老主法,广纳十方僧宝,弘宗演教,续佛慧命。一生行持,念念报三宝恩,心心系众生苦,诚为末法明灯,在家菩萨楷模。
今者四大暂歇,净业圆成。恰逢文殊圣诞吉辰,更蒙弥陀圣众接引。当知:生灭去来本幻迹,寂光真境现当前。雖然如是,即今起棺一句,又作么生道呢?
觉海澄明月印空,莲开九品乘愿风;
娑婆泪尽归安养,倒驾慈航度苦衷
